About Willowbrook, IL

The village of Willowbrook was incorporated in 1959 by the Ridgemoor Homeowners Association. Residents wanted to have more control over the development of the farmland that was around their homes. The process for the village's incorporation had to be quick — there was soon to be a law that would require at least 400 residents for incorporation. The group was made up of a much lower 167 people.

The name Willowbrook came from the group's president, Anton Borse. The group's attorney was in court for their case for incorporation and realized they didn't have a name! The attorney quickly called Borse, asking for a name. Borse looked out the window of his home and saw the willow trees and creek on his property. From that point on, the village of Willowbrook had its name.
